Sustainability Fishing:

Our fish is troll caught by members of the American Albacore Fishing Association (AAFA) on a pole and short line, making it an ocean friendly product.  The Monterey Bay Aquarium supports this sustainable method of fishing as AAFA fishermen do not catch any other ocean life with our albacore.  AAFA promotes new methods and procedures in handling the catch, thereby enhancing product quality and marketability for the benefit of the general public.

AAFA is endorsed by the eco-friendly groups:  Enviornmental Defense, Blue Ocean Institute and Monterey Bay Aquarium as a “best choice in seafood” to help sustain our oceans.  Kate Wing, ocean policy analyst at the Natural Resources Defense Council in San Francisco, a national environmental group, praised AAFA trollers for their cooperative spirit.  “The northern Pacific albacore is one of those fish you want to support because it comes from a sustainable fishery.  There is very little bycatch, and the fishermen are actively working to manage their own fishery,” Wing said.
